I don’t think we appreciate simple design enough anymore — and this is a perfect example of why we should. The standout detail here is the icon placement — normally the icon for each card sits in the header area in a muted grey, but Jin placed the heart rate icon, the sleep icon, and the rest as larger, more colourful elements right next to the text, and it completely changes how your eye moves through the dashboard. It draws you to the actual information instead of skimming past it, which is a small decision with a big impact on scanability. Steal this technique of pulling category icons out of the card header and placing them as bold, colourful elements beside the metric text — if you’ve got a card-based layout in your app, this single move could take it to a whole new level.

#2 — Live sports tracker by Mattia 🥈

You don’t often see sports apps with this kind of gaming-like UI — they usually play it safe with generic interfaces because they need to reach a massive global user base, but this one is very opinionated and I’m here for it. The CTAs immediately draw your attention, and that’s exactly what they’re supposed to do — the button colours against that blue-shaded dark mode with the little borders around each card create a really well put together screen. There’s a mismatch worth noting though — the large, rounded, bouncy icons don’t quite suit this UI with its square corner radius buttons and tighter radiuses across the cards, so sharper icons would tie the whole system together better. But overall this is a great rendition of a sports application that brings genuine personality to a category that usually plays it way too safe.

Design of the Week

Jamie Syke is one of my favourite designers and this inbox redesign is exactly why — it’s an acquired taste, but the kind that makes you rethink what email apps should feel like. The dark mode here isn’t your standard inversion — it’s very dark, almost black, and the font choices lean into that atmosphere with a space-like headline typeface that gives the whole thing its own identity rather than defaulting to Inter or Manrope. What really catches my eye is the tilted note cards — if that tilt indicates multiple replies within a thread, that’s a brilliant little touch that also creates visual hierarchy between read and unread items. The tag buttons and inbox text sit in a dark grey rather than full white, which could hurt readability in direct sunlight, but that’s the tradeoff you accept with a dark mode this committed to its own mood. I love that this doesn’t look like every other email app — it pushes the mobile design genre forward instead of recycling the same patterns we’ve all seen a hundred times. Steal this technique of using card rotation as a visual indicator for thread depth or unread status — it’s a subtle spatial cue that adds dimension without adding clutter, and it’s something I haven’t seen anyone else do in messaging UI.

This week was different. I didn’t plan it, but the seven designs I picked tell one story — the exact journey someone goes on when they fall down the crypto rabbit hole. From “it’s just an app” to... well, you’ll see.

The average app loses 77% of its users within the first three days. But some crypto apps? 52% still active after ninety days. That’s not luck. That’s design doing something very specific at each stage. And I think these seven designers accidentally mapped the blueprint.

Seven crypto apps. Seven different designers. Four stages. Let’s go.

Stage 1: The Sign-Up

“It’s just an app. I’m just looking.”

Apps that get users to do something meaningful in the first few minutes see double the long-term retention. A few minutes — that’s the window. And these two designers understood the assignment.

Justin is designing for Maybe, a finance tool moving into new territory. Most finance apps treat onboarding like a passport check — fill in the form, agree to terms, see you inside. Justin flips that. There’s a silver welcome card with confetti, a profile card that makes you feel like you’ve already accomplished something just by showing up. Positive emotional reinforcement in the first thirty seconds directly impacts whether someone comes back. And those little moments — the confetti, the card flourishes — they’re doing real work.

Then Henor handles your first actual transaction. A confirmation screen — and I love how unremarkable it looks. When you’re about to send crypto for the first time, you’re probably nervous. So what do you actually need? The amount, the coin, who it’s going to, the fee. That’s it. The transaction goes through. It was easy. It wasn’t scary. And now you’re thinking... maybe I’ll try another one.

The lesson: Retention doesn’t start with the product. It starts with how signing up feels. You don’t sell people on the deep end — you just make the shallow end look really inviting.

Stage 2: The Hook

“I’m not addicted. I just like to keep an eye on things.”

There’s a difference between someone who has a crypto app and someone who checks a crypto app. That shift usually happens on the home screen.

Kati designed something most designers completely overlook — widgets. When Apple introduced home screen widgets with iOS 14, it fundamentally changed how people interact with apps. If your app doesn’t make it to someone’s home screen, you’re basically relying on them to remember you exist. Kati built standalone widget experiences — an ARV graph, a news widget, a bitcoin tracker. Three different reasons to glance at your phone and think “oh, let me just check that.” These widgets don’t ask you to open the app. They just sit there, updating, catching your eye. You went from downloading an app to having live crypto data on your home screen, and you barely noticed the transition.

Bartek gets you staring. Three colours — black, white, and green. The green only shows up on the graph. By this stage, you’re not looking for excitement. You’re looking for control. And Bartek strips everything back to exactly that. A clean, calm tracker doesn’t feel like an addiction. It feels like being responsible. Which is exactly what you tell yourself before you realise you’ve checked it nine times today.

The lesson: The best retention tool isn’t inside your app — it’s on the home screen. If your product can exist outside itself in a widget, a notification, a glanceable moment, you’re not competing for attention anymore. You’re just part of someone’s day.

Stage 3: Going Deeper

“The money’s just sitting there. Might as well make it work.”

Up until now, you’ve been watching. Checking. Glancing at widgets. Stage 3 is when you stop watching and start doing. Gamified crypto platforms see around 73% more daily active users. Design isn’t just making things pretty here — it’s making action feel inevitable.

Josh Grazier makes you watch your money grow. The APY graph, the current rate, the monthly earnings — it’s laid out in this gradual hierarchy that feeds you information in the exact order you want it. Each piece leads to the next question, which leads to the next answer. You’re not just holding crypto anymore. You’re earning from it. And Josh makes that feel satisfying rather than stressful — which is probably why you start checking the APY chart at midnight.

Alexander gives you the tool to act on that confidence. The connection between the “from” and “to” cards is the best execution of this swap pattern I’ve seen in any finance app — the gradient lightens as it connects to the “from” card, darkens as it flows into the “to” card, like value flowing from one place to another. Token swaps involve routing, gas fees, slippage — all invisible here. Just two cards, a gradient, and a button. It removes every reason to hesitate.

The lesson: Subtle design doesn’t just make things easier to use — it makes action feel inevitable. Josh and Alexander didn’t add features. They removed friction. And when doing something is easier than not doing it, people do it.

Stage 4: The Final Form

“This isn’t just an investment. This is who I am now.”

When crypto platforms introduce community features, NFT ownership, and competitive elements, 52% of users are still active after ninety days. Because at this stage, it’s not about money anymore. It’s about identity.

Vlad treats crypto as an identity, not a financial tool. The gradient rounded font that literally glows. The sunburst rainbow background. Crypto coins with hats flying through the air. You’re not an investor here — you’re a “crypto king.” You’re competing in challenges, collecting rewards. Your net worth isn’t a number, it’s your rank in the game. Every single element commits fully. Nothing is restrained. Nothing is pretending to be a sensible financial tool. It’s fun, it’s loud, it’s unapologetically itself.

The lesson: The deepest level of retention isn’t utility — it’s identity. When using a product stops being something you do and starts being something you are, that’s when people stay for ninety days and beyond.

The Takeaway

A 5% improvement in user retention can boost profits by 25 to 95%. And you don’t get there with features — you get there with how the design makes someone feel at each stage.

Justin makes signing up feel like a celebration. Henor makes the first move feel safe. Kati puts your data on the home screen. Bartek makes tracking feel responsible. Josh makes growth feel satisfying. Alexander makes action feel effortless. And Vlad makes it all feel like who you are.

Whether you’re building a crypto app, a productivity tool, or a recipe app — the question isn’t “what features do we need?” It’s “how should this feel at each stage?”

🥇 First Place — Gamified leaderboard tracker by Shane Levine

This is a before and after, and the entire philosophy changed. The old screen demotes the bottom 10 — Shane’s version promotes the top 20. Same mechanic, completely different emotional outcome. Colour earns its place here too; the trophy tiers use gold, silver, bronze with actual purpose, not decoration. If you’re building any kind of competitive feature, steal the reframe: make users want to climb, not afraid to fall.

🥈 Second Place — Crypto portfolio dashboard by Jay Dwivedi

Dark mode in crypto isn't a style choice, it's a trust signal — and Jay leans into that deliberately. The dark canvas reads as serious and built for people who know what they're doing before you've clocked a single number. That red gradient glow in the background might be reacting to portfolio performance. If it is, and it glows red when you're down, that's a design decision I genuinely respect. Colour sets the tone before the data does — this is a good example of that.

🥉 Third Place — Heart rate analysis by Studio Sphere

White doesn't mean boring. It means you borrowed trust from somewhere people already feel safe. Studio Sphere's health app pulls the same visual language as a doctor's office — clean, uncluttered, nothing competing for attention — so when your resting heart rate shows up, it actually feels like information worth paying attention to. The "normal range" tags inside the text blocks do a lot of quiet work. You're not just seeing a number, you're being told whether to worry about it. That's the whole job of a health interface.

🥇 First Place — Crypto finance dashboard by Stats Studio

The intimidation tax is real. Most people never even start with crypto because the jargon makes them feel stupid. Stats Studio proves approachability and sophistication aren't opposites. Clean white palette, pastel accents, playful icons, and AI chat that lets you say "sell Bitcoin, buy Solana" in plain English. Everything's legible, nothing's dumbed down. This carries the cognitive load so newcomers feel capable from minute one. Gold medal because it eliminates the shame of being a beginner completely.

🥈 Second Place — Transfer review panel by Eric Angelo

The irreversible mistake tax keeps people up at night. You've triple-checked the amount, but did you check the recipient? One wrong tap, your money's gone. No undo button, no safety net. Eric Angelo dedicates the top third of the screen to what users actually fear: identity verification. Big profile image, clear name, account details. You're not confirming a transaction — you're being reassured. Silver medal because it transforms panic into control through pure clarity. This is what psychological safety looks like in finance.

🥉 Third Place — Movie mood matcher by Yaroslav

The choice paralysis tax hits every Friday night. "What do you want to watch?" "I don't know, what do YOU want to watch?" Thirty minutes later, you're still scrolling. Yaroslav stops making you translate feelings into categories. "Feel good, heartbroken, suspenseful" — you see the vibe before clicking. Four rating options instead of two gives the algorithm actual nuance. There's a difference between liking something and loving it. Bronze medal because it turns decision fatigue into guided discovery.

Sajon nails the challenge of making health tracking welcoming instead of clinical with this serif-and-softness approach that breaks every wellness app convention. The off-white backgrounds with bordered white cards create breathing room, while the noisy gradients on progress indicators add tactile depth without overwhelming the data. Most health apps lean into intense dark mode with sharp corners and aggressive illustrations—this goes the opposite direction with clawed effects, serif headlines, and gradients that flow from card backgrounds into the icons themselves. What really works is how this demonstrates that strong visual design comes from understanding branding and marketing, not just product design—the two disciplines intertwine. Steal this technique of challenging category conventions with softer aesthetics and elevated typography, because when everyone in your space looks one way, differentiation means having the confidence to go the opposite direction.

🥈 Second Place — Neural scan interface by Geex Arts

Geex Arts nails the challenge of making medical scan data approachable without dumbing it down with this expertly executed MRI dashboard. The brain visualization sits crystal clear at the center while cognitive metrics and neuro flow charts orbit around it without competing for attention. The dark mode palette with cool blue and purple accents creates that high-tech medical aesthetic everyone expects from sci-fi, but executes it with real usability that actual healthcare professionals could use. What elevates this is how it balances information density with visual accessibility—you get the technical precision doctors need while keeping it comprehensible for patients. Steal this technique of establishing one hero element then letting everything else support it, because futuristic design doesn't mean overwhelming your users with visual complexity.

🥉 Third Place — Dynamic widget dashboard by Ranjith

Ranjith proves why going in a completely different visual direction is worth the risk with this widget dashboard that makes you rethink what wellness tracking can look like. The design pushes multiple progress bar treatments—gradients for air quality, ring indicators for steps, water illustrations showing daily intake—while maintaining a cohesive design language across every widget variant. Each widget has its own unique style but they all feel like they belong to the same family, showing mastery of design systems. What elevates this is the attention to details like the air quality slider that goes the extra mile, and the strategic use of liquid glass effects that actually enhance rather than distract. Steal this approach of exploring multiple visualization styles within one consistent design language, because differentiation in wellness apps comes from pushing visual boundaries while keeping the core experience intuitive.

Studio Sphere nails the challenge of showing comprehensive health data without creating information overload. The four cards displaying water, calories, protein and sleep use single icons for instant comprehension alongside the key numbers people actually need. What elevates this is the liquid glass implementation—the cortisol slider's gradient indicator uses liquid glass, a detail most people miss. The "Doing Great" streak in the brightest color drives users back to the app. If you're stealing something here, it's Studio Sphere's restrained color system that guides attention exactly where needed. The four cards, cortisol levels, and daily streak all use color strategically, and even the dual tone icons at the bottom feel modern rather than dated.

🥈 Second Place — Smart urban navigation by Budhvin

Budhvin reimagines navigation with a concept that genuinely feels like Google Maps evolved forward. The floating nav bar with those abstract Material Design-inspired shapes draws massive attention to what's currently active, while the color usage throughout guides your eyes exactly where you need to go—what page you're on, ready directions, buttons to press. What really works is how this makes functional design actually interesting to look at, because let's be honest, Google Maps isn't exactly pretty. The waypoint gradient is intriguing, though separating the route colors instead of blending might reduce confusion. Steal this approach of using strategic color placement to guide user attention while updating established patterns to feel more contemporary and engaging.

🥉 Third Place — Personalized movie profiles by Yaroslav

Yaroslav proves why streaks, emblems and trophies keep users coming back with this expertly executed movie taste profile design. The gradient backgrounds interact perfectly with the emblem colors, showing how you earned them through your actual viewing history. What really stands out is Yaroslav's use of depth—how the emblems appear to float above the screen through layered planes, and how the movie poster shadows pull colors from the posters themselves rather than using generic black shadows. Even the taste profile names like "Taste Explorer" and "Nostalgia Keeper" feel smartly considered. Steal this technique of adding depth through unconventional shadow treatments and layered visual planes to make your designs feel more dimensional and premium.

🥇 First Place — Vibrant step tracker by Ranjith

Ranjith's Gold Cub is probably one of the best design apps I've come across in the mobile design space recently. You can instantly tell—the dark mode with the gradient illustration behind, the custom font (not just SF Pro), the liquid glass nav bar that's custom and not the regular implementation. Ranjith takes all the nice elements from iOS 26 but puts their own spin on it, and that's what I really admire: a designer who puts their taste above anything else and it comes out looking amazing. If you want to analyze how to make a design unique while applying guidelines but also your own taste on top, this is how you do it. Go check out Gold Cub because it's amazing.

🥈 Second Place — Dark mode style boards by Turkson Isaac

This one is very unique—showcasing mood boards with tilted cards (probably inspired by Darryl Ginn who used to do this a lot) adds flexibility instead of rigid grids. I think it adds a lot here, especially for a more fun, experimental application with boards. The dark mode color scheme isn't too dark—the background is off-gray not jet black, which makes it very inviting and easier on the eyes, and the text is more legible. I'd love to see the animations for screen-to-screen transitions, like if you click the fashion board and zoom into it to see the posts. That would be a nice touch.

🥉 Third Place — Card customization display by Ayomide

I really enjoy how simple this is, and I feel a lot of users will love picking virtual card colors this way. This is one of the simpler renditions I've seen and it's very enjoyable. Rotating the card to portrait instead of landscape takes up more screen space and makes it way more eye-catching. The color picker below with the white border stroke is very simple and nice. Having custom names for the colors with little details of where they came from adds sentiment and makes it warmer and more inviting. They know where to put attention—the card is the only thing that matters and everything else stands back to let the card shine, no competing elements. They get that ideology down to a T.

🥇 First Place — Finance score analyzer by Studio Sphere

Studio Sphere takes health data's ring visualization—one of the best UX innovations we've gotten in the 21st century—and applies it to finance. We're used to the half-circle credit score gauge, but this takes it further by showing all the different components (spending, debts, savings, investments) with thoughtful color psychology: green for savings obviously, red for debts, purple for investments to feel exploratory, blue for spending because that's normal. I haven't seen anything like this for the finance world. The way this blends health data visualization with finance is something we haven't really seen before, and I can't wait to see the wider project if Studio Sphere shares more screens.

🥈 Second Place — Movie discovery stream by Yaroslav

I love movies—it's my second love after mobile design—so this one has a soft spot for me. The poster shadows actually bleed into the card backgrounds, the trending rings look like they'll be a story feature for quick trailer access, and the slight off-white gray background with white buttons and tight shadows makes everything feel clean and well put together. What really works here is taking Instagram's story rings and applying them to movie trailers—it's exactly like Studio Sphere's first place, where you take bits from different applications and create something totally brand new we haven't seen before. Look for inspiration outside your industry instead of in the same field, and you'll get novel ideas that really work.

🥉 Third Place — Smart thermostat control by Stats Studio

There's an open market for home device applications that actually showcase information in a nice, intuitive way—Apple Home and Google Home don't do this well in my opinion. Stats Studio nails it with large buttons at the bottom so you can adjust temperature, heat, cold, dry air, or humidity with your eyes closed if you know the app. The oversized controls aren't just aesthetic—they're designed for the situation where users are half-asleep or rushing and don't want to be finicky with tiny controls. The calming gradient backgrounds (cool blues now, probably red when hot) create that visual connection between the actual device and the UI. Design for who the user is and what situation they're in, not just what they want to accomplish.

Ivan nails onboarding visuals three different ways—3D light rays with overlapping depth for an AI agent app, aspirational travel photography that speaks to users' dreams, and skeuomorphic pin notes on a photo timeline that taps into the shift toward real-world connection. The visual work here is what separates apps users delete immediately from apps they're excited to explore. If you're building onboarding, steal the approach: match your visuals to the emotional job your app does, layer elements to add depth, and push your craft beyond clean UX into memorable brand moments that make users feel something before they even hit the main screen.

🥈 Second Place — Subscription management screens by Ragip

Ragip's gradients bring life to subscription management—hard to do well, harder to do with purpose. The color work here isn't decoration, it's categorization tied to entertainment tags, visual hierarchy that makes financial data feel less punishing. If you're working with card-based transaction displays, steal this: use gradient backgrounds to differentiate categories, keep data presentation clean and scannable with clear labels (what it is, where it came from, is it recurring), and remember that even serious finance apps benefit from tasteful visual personality that doesn't compromise clarity.

🥉 Third Place — Minimal membership profile by Josh Grazier

Josh elevates a profile card into something you'd want to hold—the embossed badge with inner shadows, the lanyard hole detail that bridges digital and physical, the subtle layering that makes elements feel like they're floating off screen. The QR code integration and customizable badge system turn a standard profile into a premium membership experience. If you're designing identity screens, steal this: use strategic shadows to create depth across multiple card layers, embrace skeuomorphic details that feel tactile without being dated, and give users visual status symbols they'll actually want to show off.

💬 From the Designer

On the inspiration for this badge idea:

“The idea came from wanting to create a profile card that feels physical first, something you could imagine printing or wearing, but that also lives inside Dawn app in exactly the same form. We’re big fans of blending digital/physical and think in an era of AI slop it’s a nice differentiator - this same thinking applies to the badge. The Severance reference was really just us tapping into a visual language and art style we love (and know a lot of people enjoy too).”

On principles for creating ‘premium’ designs:

“My 3 principles are: keep it simple, create the zeitgeist (or at least try) and obsess over the details. Following these never seems to fail.”

Mobile design is meant to be experienced, and honestly, trying to capture what makes a design work through text alone doesn’t always cut it. So now you get both: the full video breakdown above with all 7 designs, and the written commentary down here for the top 3.

I’m testing this format to see what works best for you. The goal is simple: showcase incredible mobile designers and their work in a way that actually helps you level up your own projects. Whether that’s through video, written breakdowns, or a mix of both — I want to know what’s useful.

🥇 First Place — Web3 wallet journey by Stats Studio

Stats Studio nails the hardest part of crypto UX — making Web3 approachable. The soft rounded icons, generous border radiuses, and strategic use of color create a playful, welcoming experience that makes wallet creation feel simple instead of intimidating. What I would steal is: how every visual choice; from rounded text to soft icon treatments, compounds into an experience that doubles down on fun and simplicity. It's proof that thoughtful design characteristics can transform how users interact with complex products.

💬 From the Designer

On the Ghost crypto wallet project:

Ghost crypto wallet is an end-to-end modern cryptocurrency wallet designed to provide users with a seamless, secure & friendly way to manage digital assets.

On balancing information without overwhelming users:

“To balance information without overwhelming users, the design relies heavily on progressive disclosure. Instead of presenting all crypto concepts upfront, the onboarding flow introduces information gradually, only when it becomes relevant to the user’s current step.

Early screens focus on simple actions like creating or importing a wallet, using friendly visuals, minimal copy, and clear hierarchy. More complex concepts, such as recovery phrases, gas fees, or multi-network support, are introduced later with contextual guidance.

This approach helps beginners feel guided rather than instructed, while still ensuring power users can quickly access advanced functionality once onboarding is complete.”

On building trust through design:

“Trust was fundamental to the system design, achieved through clarity, consistency, and transparency, especially in high-stakes asset management.

Visual consistency across UI elements reinforces reliability. Clean typography, generous spacing, and a calm color palette create a professional feel without appearing sterile. Iconography and micro-interactions signal system feedback clearly (e.g., confirmation states, transaction progress).

Critical actions like sending funds or backing up recovery phrases are presented with extra friction—intentional confirmations, warnings, or multi-step flows—to prevent user error. Transparency around gas fees, transaction status, and wallet security settings builds confidence that the system isn’t hiding anything from the user.”

🥈 Second Place — Fuel logistics dashboard by Paul Elite

The custom-made map is what makes this design. Paul's hand-crafted styling paired with the functional routing for fuel logistics creates an app that's both beautiful and highly intuitive for its demographic. The swipe gestures, AI suggestions, and overlapping sheet interactions all point to one thing: making this fast for people who need it. Always ask yourself how you can make your app as intuitive as possible for the people who actually need to use it. Different demographics have different needs — nail those down before you even open Figma.

💬 From the Designer

On creating the custom map:

“My secret sauce for creating most of my assets including the maps in this interface is not really secret after all. It’s the pen tool!

My usual process is straight-up illustrating in Figma after I get a nice mental model of what I want to create.

For more complex scenarios (like this map) I mostly make the mainframe in Adobe Illustrator, and then correct and paint them in Figma.”

On designing for drivers on the road:

“Part of the goals for the app in general is as few screen taps as possible, so if you look beneath, you would find the AI agent listening, so aside from tapping, drivers can outright say the magic word ‘Rigintel’ and give commands right after that.

We are always listening.”

On information hierarchy:

“This was one of my most pressing problems in making this interface but I found a fix.

First of all I categorized all info into 2 categories:

1. Some information remains the same throughout the trip except specifically

2. Other routing information changes as the trip goes on

So, I tried to keep things as simple as possible but whenever I had a compulsory conflict, I would prioritize the information that change over the ones that do not.

This helped me always maintain some sense of hierarchy throughout the interface and served as a reliable metric I could imply even in other parts of the app.”

🥉 Third Place — Predictive crypto insights by Muharrem

Muharrem never disappoints. The sharp-cornered graph with glowy effects, the way colors shift as predictions dip between yes and no, and that perfectly balanced dark color scheme (not too stark, easy to read) all come together brilliantly. The lighter gray card backgrounds against the darker main background is a great touch that keeps everything scannable. Take note of the color scheme and layout in particular that makes everything so easy to scan at a glance. On another day this would be top one.

Batuhan's fitness dashboard shows that clean doesn't have to be boring. What's brilliant here is the use of color. Vibrant accents guide the eye to key metrics while maintaining that clean white base. This is textbook information architecture. Batuhan knows ball.

Credit verification flow by Outpace Studios

In finance, every interaction needs to feel secure, and the professional aesthetic communicates exactly that. This is how you build trust through design: simplify the experience by removing anything that feels uncertain. Steal this for any flow where users need to feel confident about data security.

Connected health suite by Batuhan

Batuhan returns making device pairing feel friendly rather than technical. The spacious layout prevents the interface from feeling clinical. This is empathetic design: acknowledge that health tracking can feel overwhelming, then build an interface that makes it feel approachable. Love it, Batuhan.

Golf swing analyzer by Steve Lauda

One thing we tend to miss when we design in screens and not in experiences is how we get from point A to B. Steve clearly didn’t miss that memo. I can only imagine how great this partnership between the flickering dots and loading stroke on the button make for a great loading state.

Artistic gallery browser by Nachi

UGC content is always hard to deal with in app design but Nachi knows what they’re doing. The ample whitespace really allows the content to breathe. Steal this for any content-focused app: let your content be the hero, make your UI invisible.

Custom control center by Kilobyte

I know this isn’t an app design but the visuals are so striking, I could never leave it out of Design Picks. If you’re not familiar with neumorphism, in short, it’s the art of blending minimalism with realism. Kilobyte takes a bit further with the addition of some liquid glass elements and great color highlights. There’s a lot to say here but I have to keep it short.

Tom Things is becoming one of my favourite designers for his nostalgic spin on modern mobile apps. The glassy, fisheye bubble effect across the elements adds a playful energy that social networks should try to incorporate.

Real-time navigation snapshot by Elsie

Live activities feel like an under-served niche. They’re great opportunities to showcase the most useful actions in your app, and this is a strong example. I’ve got everything I need to navigate to Queen Street — thanks, Elsie!

Cashout swipe interface by Dmitri Litvinov

I’ve been quietly thinking about bringing back gradient buttons, and Dmitri clearly read my mind. Financial apps don’t need to be stale. Our money is our life — let’s make it more enjoyable to interact with.

Health tracking dashboard by Batuhan

Batuhan really knows data visualisation. This is such an interesting take on showcasing fitness progress and results. The weight card is my favourite — the digital scale immerses me in the experience.

Zen finance dashboard by Studio Sphere

Funny enough, there’s an Amie subscription in this design. The split‑view interaction Studio Sphere uses was popularised by Amie’s mobile productivity app in recent years. It’s a great pattern for related information, cleanly separated by the actions used to interact with it. I love this take for finance from Sphere!

Zen finance dashboard by Studio Sphere

Because I’m a huge fan of light mode, I had to include this version too. No notes!

Golf swing insights by Steve Lauda

One thing that doesn’t get enough attention in mobile design is how to use icons well. Icons are a powerful tool for conveying lots of information in a small amount of space, and Steve understands this to the highest degree. Check out the “Wohooo” card behind the sheet to see what I mean.

Delight goes a long way in mobile design, and it can come in many forms. Dmitri’s delight arrives via cute illustrations that help users confirm money withdrawals. Love this entry.

Health onboarding flow by Jordi Plaza

The calm nature Jordi cultivates here through colour, typography, and soft imagery, comes together to create an experience any user would love to start a free trial for.

Football stats overview by Marco Cornacchia

Marco is no stranger to a Design Picks feature! Great design is often invisible and hard to spot, but trust me: the details are all here. Examine and study the makeup of this screen and steal everything (sorry, Marco!).

Wallet transfer interface by Studio Sphere

Note to self: One way to spice up a completely plain background? Add liquid‑glass buttons. A simple change, but it really does add so much. Good one, Studio Sphere!

Bible reading page by Lynel

One of the simplest designs ever featured on Handheld — and for good reason. The lesson Lynel is teaching is the art of typography, colour, and that sweet page‑turning animation that I’d play with more than I’m happy to admit.

Genre bookshelf display by Teeha

Teeha has blessed us with a banger this week. Of all the folder illustrations, this unique see‑through approach adds a lot of depth to the layout. Really impressed.

Steve is no beginner in the design world, and this work says it all. Alongside immense talent, the restraint to let UI elements breathe is what makes the interface shine — hard‑earned experience on display.

Daily health dashboard by Arafat

Fresh, fun design feels rare these days, so pieces like this deserve the spotlight. The playful colors, corner radii, and icons team up for a pleasant take on fitness data.

Crypto video network by vlad

Web3 design is a different beast for most designers, but Vlad takes it in stride. There’s a lot of information to show, yet clear hierarchy guides the user exactly where they need to go.

Travel planner onboarding by Abati Samuel

Travel companion onboarding that gets out of the way. A playful icon grid sets the vibe, then three promises: real‑time flights, one itinerary, hidden gems, that all make the value obvious before you even tap.

Crypto wallet connector by Studio Sphere

Independent takes on liquid glass can feel less overwhelming than Apple’s system apps — and this rendition nails it. Love this direction.

Media collection board by Nachi

Simple, well‑executed screens don’t need much monologue. Please keep them coming, Nachi!

The art of turning a mundane UI background into something exciting and intriguing is rare. This gradient paired with liquid glass–like elements is gorgeous from Studio Sphere (as always).

Flows that skip bells and whistles still deserve love, and Jordi doesn’t miss a beat here. This checkout and payment flow is so well constructed — it’s genuinely satisfying to look at.

Savings goal tracker by Josh Grazier

I love the idea of a universal layout that works in any conditions, and Josh nails it. The gradient treatment for each savings pot is simple but perfectly executed. Check out Josh’s work — one of the best designers I know of.

Music album showcase by Aidak

In a world of AI and constantly shifting tech, this deep dive into Aqua UI nostalgia for mobile is a breath of fresh air. I’m all for clean, minimal UIs, but personality and, most importantly, vibes matter. Love this, Aidak.

Pronunciation assistant overlay by Luka Marr

Luka shows how onboarding actually onboards. Teach without tutorials: put the action in context and let the UI whisper the lesson so users move, not think.

Photo editor toolbar by Iconly Pro

It’s hard to make UI that sits on user-generated content behave well in all conditions, but Iconly knows the lessons. The legibility against such a bright background amidst controls and buttons, is great to see in a “post‑UX” world.

Adaptive habit tracker by Cedrik Stephen

UI with personality wins in the end, and Cedrik has a lot of it here. “Habit tracker that adapts to you,” paired with calming blue tones, sends the right message throughout.

I love how the morning/evening stacks read like a checklist you actually want to finish — the helpers in letting you know what each product is *actually* for is a great touch. As someone that needs to take more care with my skin, when is this dropping, Henor?

Focus time tracker by Studio Sphere

This focus tracker nails the psychology around getting things done: show me I’m at 6/8 hours and 82% — and I’ll make sure to sprint the last mile. Studio Sphere with another banger.

Podcast discovery portal by Roman Vasylovskyi

Roman deliberately uses colour and hierarchy that matches what the morning brain needs — soft pastels and a single bold “Listen” button. It’s a reminder to tint the UI to the user’s mindset so the first tap feels frictionless.

Cryptocurrency transfer interface by Studio Sphere

No fluff, just the essentials — balance, status, gas, chain and explorer. This crypto flow respects the user’s memory by stripping everything but what matters at the moment of action.

Badge unlock modal by Nachi

The badge modal lands like a mini celebration — tight copy, playful stamp art, and a single “Continue” that keeps momentum intact. Make the win feel real and get out of the user’s way so the habit sticks.

Music control interface by Dominik Tyka

Dominik’s use of depth throughout this screen is pure eye‑candy. The album art, a floating player, and that cheeky gradient nav button all feel tactile without tipping into clutter. It’s the right kind of illusion that spotlights content every mobile designer should steal.

Football stats dashboard by Marco Cornacchia

Stats, plays, standings — this trio nails hierarchy so you never wonder “what matters right now.” Love how the live context breathes alongside season context without crowding. Designers, stack immediacy first and let depth trail behind so fans feel both the moment and the meaning.

You’re probably thinking, “Why is this here?” but there are no rules at Handheld. The gradient and colour choices for the splash screens are great.

Weather clock interface by Ranjith

We’re all familiar with Ranjith’s work on Go Club and it never gets old. We’ve included this screen especially for the unique use of liquid glass on the clock dial.

Dynamic schedule reminder by Studio Sphere

Onboarding is such a critical part of your mobile app, and Studio Sphere — the veterans — understand that. Simple, smart, and effective.

Calorie tracker insights by Sajon

Sajon is on my list of favourite designers, and this screen proves why. The colour treatment, typography, and whitespace that lets elements breathe are of the highest quality.

Colorful calendar planner by Dimitar

As calendars go, this is great. The subtle touch of icons for different events gives users a quick glance. I can imagine a lock screen widget that shows someone’s full day using icons instead of just a few events.

Subscription management dashboard by Abati Samuel

Abati, Abati, Abati — you don’t have to keep cooking like this. I promise, you can take a break sometime and put Figma down. Jokes aside, it’s another well‑structured screen that all payment apps should take a look at.

Subscription tracker overview by Studio Sphere

A really nice UX detail here with the yellow bars showcasing the percentage of each cost — something that will put your spending habits into perspective.

Not only is this screen laid out in such a clean way — the background glows are what we’re really here for. It’s very difficult to spice up mobile app backgrounds, so I’m always on the lookout for well‑done examples like this from Roman.

Storage manager dashboard by Sajon

Dropbox or Google Drive should get Sajon on the job to give their mobile apps some life! I’m loving the colour treatment here — so well done.

AI mailbox dashboard by wlad

Wlad is one of my favourite designers this year, and this screen is one of the reasons why. Email is one of those archaic pieces of software that desperately needs a revival, and this could be it. Detailing the senders as ‘apps’ at a high level is very interesting…

Cycling route tracker by Studio Sphere

Yes, yes, and definitely yes. Another one from Studio Sphere showing us why they’re some of the best in the game. The large buttons fit exactly the right scenario: a cyclist on the deep roads of Palo Alto.

Payment confirmation screen by Eric Angelo

I’m enjoying this confirmation screen from Eric a lot. Most of the time, functional screens like these get neglected in mobile design, but they’re the last bit of feedback a user gets on an action, so they need to be treated with respect. Eric gets that completely.
