Design Picks #008
Reunited and it feeeeels so good! Free Figma file and great design. What more can I say?
Handhelders… we’re back. It’s been a minute.
I’m coming to you with the best mobile design work out there this week to help you with your current project. Let me know what you steal.
On a wider note, we’re going to be doing a lot more over here too. Alongside design spotlights for inspiration, we’re doubling down on clarity and usefulness. Why the best patterns work and the assets to ship fast. Think of this feed as your mobile creative director — showing what works, explaining why, and giving you the file when it matters.
Free Figma file
As a thank you for sticking with Handheld, I’m giving away the design for that notes app with the infamous folders that everyone seemed to love. Take a peak at how they were created and remix them for a project that fits. Download the file and steal what helps.
Check out the new Resources tab on the newsletter here where we’ll be dropping Figma files, code, prototypes and everything in between to help you design and ship faster.
Now, let’s get into the updates.
The Updates
Interactive task hub by Alexey Sekachov
Alexey is one of the best out there. His work on Joi app really excited me in the mobile world and I can’t wait for his new one: Ask Computer… especially as it looks like this.
Fitness filter interface by Jin Yong
It’s form over a function for a lot of designers out there but not many realise function is form when it’s well-crafted like these filter sheets.
Training schedule creator by Dimitar
You can tell a designers skill level from the weight of their fonts, choice of icons and their sizes, colours chosen — and Dimitar has made all the right choices here.
Focus session summary by Abati Samuel
Abati is a repeat offender in getting spotlighted on Handheld. The only thing this design should be arrested for is not having more screens to look at.
Audio sphere experience by Max
Max really knows how to make their designs feel something and this is no exception. The use of gradients, shapes, typeface — it’s all put together so beautifully. Full of soul.
Personal AI greeting by Hossein Fathi
After downloading iOS 26 recently, I’m not really a fan of liquid glass but I feel this rendition by Hossein is done with a lot of grace.
Fitness motivation screens by Adrian
I’m so glad we moved from dark gradient overlays to progressive blurs for image text cards — thank you Adrian.
